There are many files involved with projects: requirement docs, content docs, status reports, website images etc. It is inefficient to communicate project files via e-mail; we utilize Dropbox. Think of Dropbox as a place to store files on the internet (cloud-based storage) that we can both access and update.
What is Dropbox?
- Dropbox offers cloud storage. Files are stored at www.dropbox.com on secure online servers.
- Dropbox files sync with your devices. You can view/edit files on your computer/tablet/phone and they are automatically synced with dropbox.com.
- Dropbox files can be shared amongst multiple Dropbox users. Each user can view/edit shared files.
Creating a Dropbox Account – Windows
- The Client needs to sign-up for a free account at www.dropbox.com.
- Enter your Name, E-mail Address and Password
- The Dropbox software will be downloaded to your computer. When complete, run the Dropbox Installer.
- In Windows Explorer, go to Downloads folder
- Double-click DropboxInstaller.exe
- After install completes, you will see a Dropbox folder in Windows Explorer
- The files in your Dropbox folder are synced with the files at dropbox.com.
Creating a Dropbox Account – MAC
- The Client needs to sign-up for a free account at www.dropbox.com.
- Enter your Name, E-mail Address and Password
- The Dropbox software will be downloaded to your computer. When complete, run the Dropbox Installer.
- In Finder, go to Downloads folder
- Double-click DropBoxInstaller.dmg
- After install completes, you will se a Dropbox folder in Finder
- The files in your Dropbox folder are synced with the files at www.dropbox.com
